Australia > On the way to Singapore

Just before seven o’clock, the neighbor knocks on the kitchen window. She is giving me a ride to Schiphol. Outside, it is still dark and quiet on the street. Around the airport, it is a bit busier. In front of departure hall 3, I unload my luggage from the car and thank her for the ride. I walk to counter 31 of Singapore Airlines. Immediately, I meet Arie and Theo. They are also part of the travel group to Australia. My travel bag receives an extra red tag because of the short connection time in Singapore. Hopefully, this helps and my bag will arrive at the final destination. At customs and the carry-on baggage check, I lose sight of Arie and Theo.

Australia - The airplane is ready in Amsterdam

I walk to one of the cafes and order a cappuccino. At the gate, I meet several other travel companions. When I board flight SQ 242, it turns out we are seated together on the plane. That’s more fun. The flight to Singapore lasts over twelve hours. I watch a movie and after lunch is served, I try to get some sleep. At first, this goes well. I wake up to a warning for severe turbulence. After that, it becomes harder to fall asleep again. I’m not even halfway through my first flight yet. During the night on the plane, Saturday quietly passes into Sunday.
