The convoy of minibuses continues toward Fort Frederick. This fort was built in the seventeenth century by the French. They wanted to defend the island against the English. Because they expected an attack more likely by land than by sea, the cannons were pointed inland. From the fort, we have a view of the capital, the bay, and the AIDA ship. Our last stop is Grande Anse Beach. According to Nick, this is the most beautiful beach in the Caribbean. Several islands claim this title. Upon arrival at the beach, we are offered a rum punch. With the drink in hand, we walk to the shore. The beach beds are not included today but look very inviting. For five dollars, we rent a beach bed under a tree. We take a dip in the sea. The water is wonderful, and the bay is indeed beautiful. While we are in the water, new guests arrive by water taxi from the ship.
