Northern Italy and San Marino

At the Guaita Tower, the first of the defensive towers, we buy a combination ticket for all the towers. From the first tower, we look down into the deep valley. The surrounding land lies more than 700 meters below us—an impressive sight. The path to the second tower runs along the edge of the cliff. The views are stunning everywhere. From the second tower, the view back toward the first tower is especially iconic. This is the most famous image of San Marino. In the narrow streets of the town are many shops, mostly aimed at tourists and day-trippers. San Marino does not charge VAT, which makes shopping more attractive.
