1992 (28 days)
Early in the morning, we are already being driven out of the tent at eight o’clock. The sun is blazing on our tent roof. With the tent flap open and our heads toward the opening, we nap until about half past eleven—a very normal thing at this campsite. After brunch, it’s time for the mega-laundry. We’ve all run out of clean clothes, and the entire clothesline is full. In the afternoon, we move the beds under a canopy where people can also sleep at night.
We decide to sleep there tonight because of the morning heat. Moving just the beds isn’t very useful, so it’s time for our afternoon nap. After eating (rice with odds and ends), washing up, drinking coffee, and playing a game of cards, it’s time to head back out to the battlefield. This time we start on the other side of the town. We visit the discotheques we haven’t been to before. After more than five hours of partying, we end up at Irish Dream. Downstairs the disco is calm, but one floor up, everyone is dancing on the tables. We manage to claim a table and join in. When we finally return to the tent around half past six, it’s already light outside.
